Definitely the end for Audi R8
Audi ceased production of the TT coupe in November of the previous year, with plans to retire the R8 shortly thereafter. However, those plans were delayed.
After the last TT was produced in November 2023, the second sporty Audi is also leaving the scene. The last R8 rolled off the assembly line at the Bellinger Hefe site in Heilbronn, Germany. It was a Vegas Yellow coupe (similar to the one pictured), boasting the Performance quattro edition with a carbon fiber exterior styling package and 20-inch wheels.
Audi had to extend production of the R8 to keep up with a surge in customer orders following the company’s announcement that it was shutting down the super sports car. Originally, the last car was supposed to be produced at the end of 2023, but that didn’t happen until this month. Last year, sales increased by 49 percent, reaching 1,591 units.
Looking back at the sales results, the demand for the R8 has always been low, which is understandable given the prohibitive price and class of this car. It reached its peak in 2008, when Audi delivered as many as 5,016 copies to customers. These sales numbers include the Coupe and Spyder variants.
BMW has prepared an answer with a luxurious but affordable model
So, what’s the price of the Audi R8 and which version do we recommend ?
The cost of the 2023 Audi R8 ranges from $161,395 to $253,290 based on the chosen trim and options.
Here are the starting prices for different versions of the 2023 Audi R8:
- V10 Coupe: $161,395
- V10 Spyder: $173,795
- V10 Performance Coupe: $213,295
- V10 Performance Spyder: $225,695
- GT Coupe: $253,290
If you’re looking for a bit more attention, we recommend opting for the Spyder. With the convertible top down, onlookers will have a clearer view of the fortunate driver inside. Deciding between the standard and Performance models is a more challenging choice. On one hand, the 562-hp V-10 delivers exceptional acceleration and the same distinctive sound as the 602-hp version.
