Dubbed the Veloce 330, this state-of-the-art unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) has been commissioned by the French procurement agency, Direction générale de l’armement (DGA), marking a pivotal moment in the nation’s defense capabilities.

The Veloce 330 represents a new era in drone warfare, boasting an impressive top speed of 400 km/h during flight, a feat achieved during rigorous testing phases. Designed to serve as a medium-range remotely controlled weapon (MTO), this drone promises unparalleled precision and agility on the battlefield.

During its recent test flights, the Veloce 330 showcased its exceptional performance, spending 16 minutes airborne and covering a distance of 50 kilometers while maintaining its maximum speed. Remarkably, it achieved this feat using only half of its fuel capacity, highlighting its efficiency and endurance.

This groundbreaking development underscores France’s evolving strategic approach to unmanned aerial capabilities. Previously, France had not prioritized drones, but with projects like Colibri and Larinae launched by the DGA, the country is now at the forefront of drone technology, positioning itself for enhanced defense capabilities.

The Veloce 330 is equipped with advanced features, including VTOL (Vertical Takeoff and Landing) technology, a robust navigation system immune to GPS interference, and reconnaissance capabilities facilitated by an optical sphere capable of detecting targets up to 15 kilometers away.

Moreover, the drone’s adaptability extends to its offensive capabilities, with plans to transform it into remotely controlled ammunition capable of penetrating tank armor, further enhancing its utility on the battlefield.

Despite its advanced capabilities, the Veloce 330 prioritizes human oversight, ensuring that critical decisions regarding targets and missions remain in the hands of trained operators, thereby maintaining ethical standards and strategic control.

Developed and manufactured in Bordeaux, France, the Veloce 330 represents a triumph of French ingenuity and technological prowess, poised to redefine the landscape of modern warfare.

As geopolitical tensions continue to escalate, the introduction of the Veloce 330 marks a significant milestone in France’s defense strategy, reaffirming its commitment to innovation and national security. Stay tuned for further updates on this groundbreaking development.
