The American space agency NASA has managed to “fix” its legendary Voyager 1 probe, which is now fully operational after seven months of technical problems.
In November 2023, the Voyager 1 spacecraft, located billions of kilometers from Earth, began sending strange and unreadable data. The team immediately started working on finding the cause of this problem, but although the probe was receiving commands from Earth, none of the data it sent back made any sense.
In April this year, NASA experts discovered the problem: a damaged memory in the Flight Data Subsystem (FDS) computer. Later, they managed to get two instruments to start sending data again. However, now all four instruments on the Voyager 1 probe are once again sending readable data back to Earth, NASA confirmed.
Voyager 1 was launched in 1977, so the fact that it still functions is truly incredible. The probe can now continue its mission, directly studying interstellar space.
